“We didn’t do anything wrong, but somehow, we lost”
Restructuring and reorganization
During the 2013 press conference announcing the sale of NOKIA's cell phone division to Microsoft, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop concluded his speech by saying: "We didn't do anything wrong, but somehow we lost".
Unfortunately, Stephen Elop was not quite right with his assessment at the time. Although Nokia has undoubtedly built good cell phones over a long period of time, Nokia had failed to recognize that customers no longer want cell phones, but smartphones. There are many examples of such organizational failures throughout history. The only problem is that in most cases the companies did not exist anymore. In order to avoid a similar fate, it is essential to act as early as possible. The further a crisis has progressed, the greater the pressure to act while the room for maneuver is getting smaller and smaller. Now it is important to make the right decisions quickly and efficiently, define measures and implement them. Stakeholder communication is a fundamental part of this. Change, especially in crisis-ridden situations, can only be achieved with the involvement and participation of all relevant stakeholders.
With our years of restructuring and reorganization expertise, both as consultants and managers, we accompany you pragmatically and implementation-oriented in the successful design of the turnaround, towards a sustainable market and competitiveness.
